Peter Spiro's Photography Topics Page

Some of my photographs have been used in major publications and on magazine covers, etc. I have a portfolio of over a thousand photos available for sale at istockphoto.com. More information about that can be found here.

A good way to learn about how to sell photos on-line is by reading the discussion forums at microstockgroup.com.

When I first started in photography, I used Pentax cameras. Subsequently, I switched to Canon, partly because it gave me access to a wider variety of lenses and accessories. One of the interesting features of Canon cameras is that, with adapters, it is possible to use lenses made for a wide variety of other brands, including some interesting old manual focus lenses from the early days of film SLRs. You can read about that here.

I used to maintain several pages dealing with Pentax related topics, including a collection of lens tests on older Pentax lenses. That was on my old website at Geocities.com. Geocities was a very nice web community that Yahoo rather callously destroyed for no good reason. They could have offered to sell it to somebody, or they could have made money by providing web hosting for a charge. Instead, they just erased it. Oddly enough, there is an organization called the Internet Archive that has the ambitious task of archiving old web pages from the whole internet. If you type my old URL, http://ca.geocities.com/spirope/photopage.htm, into their "Way Back Machine," it will retrieve those old pages. The Way Back Machine can be found at www.archive.org.
